Nueva Era Pipeline, LLC is a partnership between Howard Midstream Energy Partners and Grupo Clisa. Thanks to the implementation of the Energy Reform, the project includes the construction of a gas pipeline from Webb County in Texas to Escobedo Nuevo León, which would significantly reduce energy costs for our customers and their users.
According to the Railroad Commission of Texas, Webb County is the largest producer of natural gas in Texas with an approximate production of 1.8 bcf per day. The Nueva Era gas pipeline represents an efficient and different alternative to traditional natural gas transportation options, in which the gas travels a longer distance before crossing the border into Mexico. Nueva Era will be a direct route that will connect South Texas natural gas producers with consumers in Northeast Mexico. This not only provides cost savings in the transportation of natural gas but also provides a more efficient and cleaner energy source at lower cost for our customers in Mexico.
The project will initially supply natural gas to the CFE combined cycle plants in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, as well as potential customers of the industry in general.
The new gas pipeline will be interconnected with the Integrated National Transportation System, will have an approximate length of 300 kilometers and at least 30 inches in diameter, as well as a transport capacity of at least 504 million cubic feet per day. The construction is expected to begin in early 2016 and the commercial operation is scheduled for the second half of 2017.
